Its become much more newsworthy recently, but we've always been concerned about the environmentally unsustainable activities and wastage going on all around.
It occurred to us there are lots of little things that individuals can do in their day-to-day lives to improve the situation without having to quit their job and go live in a cave. If many people make incremental changes, the overall situation would improve.
Recently we were planning a new house and wanted to include some environmentally friendly features. Searching online for information and places to discuss ideas/options was disappointing. There were several sites that talked about individual green subjects, and some selling particular products, but nothing to tie it all together.
This site was created to rectify the situation. The idea is to help people figure out ways to reduce their impact on the environment in their everyday life, through mutual discussions on products, services, news items, questions, other people's suggestions, experiences, feedback etc.
For example:
- How and where can you recycle batteries rather than putting them in the local land-fill?
- What new technologies are becoming available and how practical are they ?
- What are others experiences/recommendation with a certain product or service?
- Your responses to posts by other people.
The real benefit of this site comes from sharing and discussion. The more people take part, the more everyone gains - definitely a case of "The whole being more than the sum of the parts".
We hope you'll agree this is a worthwhile project, and invite you to take a look around, register and get typing, ask questions, add your own ideas, etc.
